BREAKFAST IN BENIDORM

Ken Birch - The Author & Victim

A bit about myself: I grew up in 1944 in post war North London in a great family environment giving me much love and support.

My early life went through times of experiencing food rationing (especially kids sweets) and little to excite me in the Shops. We were the only family in the street with a car, as Dad needed it for organising much London war demolition.  As times moved forward Dad bought a refrigerator and later a TV, another rarity. The TV, while stuffy in presentation, aired much war detail into my young mind which brought some of the real horror into focus to me and across the Nation. Through the 50’s and 60’s much anti German feeling remained.

I had a normal school education and moved forward to finish a Technical College education and then onto my first job in engineering drawing and design.

Ken's Resort in Bali - Bali Palms Resort in Candi Dasa

I was soon married to my dear wife Judy, then moving into a new house in Dunstable in Bedfordshire. Soon we were blessed with 2 children for which we were so proud.

In my professional life I spent some 42 years as an Aerospace Engineer working for some major companies like Rolls Royce, British Aerospace and Marconi Avionics.  In later years I became a consultant on hydraulic flight system testing.

Later in life, at the age of 55, I took an Aerospace contract in Java, Indonesia. Shortly after my return my wife and I sadly divorced. In need of a long break I moved to Bali in Indonesia and later met and married my beautiful Balinese wife Ketut, gained a new Daughter.

My love of engineering continued into the building of our first beach resort, Bali Seascape, and continued to, Bali Palms and Palms Oasis on this Paradise Island.

I am now settled between Bali and Australia.

Oh my, this little comedy of errors black Britcom masterpiece should go to film. Particularly because it's based on horrific facts! Think Fawlty Towers in Benidorm and you're on your way to a real comedy of errors treat. The Author, Birch provides us with a rare insight into the horrific memoirs of a Spanish holiday gone terribly wrong. Rare and brilliant!
