BREAKFAST IN BENIDORM

I decided to write this book, BREAKFAST IN BENIDORM, soon after the end of my Spanish holiday.

The narrative in first person tries to involve the reader into the character of the participants and to see the funny side of what involved us all.

As life caught up, and I moved through the years of writing, I began to realize that many readers would not understand some of the humor and attitudes of the post war to 60’s and 70’s reflected from the characters in the story. I decided in writing chapter 1, that it seemed best to introduce my growing up in that time to provide some story of post war Britain and the effects on me, my family and friends. I wanted to show the way we had fun, talked about experiences and moved onwards towards a fast changing world

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th chapters were a must as we prepared for the holiday and the stress and  really humorous and darker events that arose as we launched forward into a new and unknown world where the working population, like us, could now consider a flight with adventures far away from our borders.

This is where my story blossoms into life in foreign parts through chapters 5 to 17.  

Our 70's holiday in Benidorm, Spain with my family and father's workmates, sent us into a new realm of the unknown. Few can say they ever had a Christmas holiday like this, confined in the Holiday Hotel of the Grim Reaper, a mixture of black comedy, filled with horrors, heart attacks, coffins, funerals and inedible food. The chapters 5 to 17 describes the whole dark comedy side of the numerous events which occurred.

It’s hard to define a single point of discussion as so much is held within the story.

*This chapter brings a new dimension into the story when It was a time far beyond Benidorm when a new opportunity on holidays came to us in the post. That one package of pictures and the chance of a new holiday world of experience opened. We took it and it changed our vacation life forever. A new world of holidays opened which later led into my change of engineering life into my first small Resort construction, Bali Seascape in 2002 and later Bali Palms Resort and Palms Oasis in Bali.
